Game Used Turf From
Miami Orange Bowl - Circa 1972!
This key ring was assembled in the U.S.A. & measures approximately
1  1/8" in diameter by  5/8" thick.
Its acrylic chamber is filled with actual GAME USED used chunk of
turf that
formally served as the playing surface in
Miami's Famous Orange Bowl ....
the home stadium of the Miami Dolphins from 1966 Thru 1988.
From 1970 thru 1975, The Orange Bowl employed artificial turf.
Amazingly, the Dolphins home record during this period,
and on THIS ACTUAL PIECE OF SYNTHETIC TURF
was an INCREDIBLE
31-4
!!!!
At one point during this span, the Fish
WON
TWENTY
SEVEN
GAMES
IN
A
ROW
on THIS EXACT surface!!!
The Dolphins also played their PERFECT SEASON on this turf as well!
By the end of the 1975 season, this turf had been beat up pretty good
by the sun AND the players were not very "fond" of playing on
synthetic grass either.  Injures were racking up and the league was
forced to address this issue.
So, based on all these factors, it was deemed that the old turf needed to go.
Real grass returned to the Orange Bowl in 1976 &
The City Of Miami decided to sell off sections of this HISTORIC
turf, with the proceeds going to charity.
The chuck of turf inside this key ring was crafted from
one of these sections that has survived til this day!
