    Original award presented to Jack Lambert in 1973 as the Defensive Player of the Year in the Mid-America Conference. Wood plaque measures 20x12" with football helmet profile and plate reading, "Golden Helmet Award Presented to Jack Lambert - Most Valuable Defensive Player - K.S.U. 1973 - Akron Coca-Cola" along with an NFL logo and sponsorship note from Coca-Cola. As legend has it, Lambert was "too small" for his first choice at Miami (Ohio), so he went to nearby Kent State, paving the road to becoming one of the great legends of the sport. EX condition. Signed and inscribed "#99" by Lambert just below the helmet in perfectly matching gold marker.
