Adams was signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent after the 2016 NFL Draft. Adams has also been a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions. He played college football at Connecticut.
At high school at Woodward Academy, Andrew Adams earned First Team All-City/South Fulton County by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The safety also played in the 2009 GISA All-Star Game. Adams had ten tackles, two interceptions and two TDs in first round state playoff game in 2010 vs. Ridgefield HS. He led his team to a 10-2 record during his senior season.
Andrew Adams started 33 games over the course of his college tenure including all 12 in 2014 and all 13 in 2015. In 2014, Adams tied a program record with three interceptions in a win over UCF (Nov. 1) and was named to The American’s weekly honor roll following that performance. Adams started all 12 games at safety, leading UConn with four interceptions and finished second on the squad with 96 tackles, including a team-high 65 solo stops. Adams also led UConn with eight pass breakups.
He was one of four captains his senior year with the Connecticut Huskies. Adams lead the Huskies with 103 tackles as well as adding three interceptions and seven passes defended in his final season as a Husky. Adams three interceptions all came in wins — Villanova (Sept. 3), Army (Sept. 12) and Houston (Nov. 21). The safety also made a career-high 17 tackles vs. Navy (Sept. 26) and also had 13 tackles against Cincinnati. (Oct. 24)
On May 6th, 2016, Adams signed with the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL) as a rookie free agent. However, he was waived on September 3rd, and later joined the New York Giants’ practice squad. On September 23rd, Adams was promoted from practice squad to the active roster.
In Adams' fifth start for the New York Giants in their win over Philadelphia on November 6th, Adams led the team in tackles and recorded an interception and pass breakup in coverage as a true standout for the Giants. His performance was given an impressive 91.8 grade from Pro Football Focus and the third-highest rated player in the entire NFL that Sunday. Adams finished with 46 tackles, 1 interception and 5 PD's in 2016.
In 2017, Adams played in all 16 games with 4 starts for the New York Giants. He notched 34 tackles and a forced fumble. His best game came in an 18-10 win over the Washington Redskins in week 17 when he led the defense with 7 tackles!!
On September 25th, 2018, Adams signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. On December 2nd, 2018, Adams had a career high (and franchise single game record tying) 3 interceptions off Panthers Pro Bowl quarterback Cam Newton to beat the Carolina Panthers in a 24-17 victory.
In week 8 of the 2019 NFL Season against the Tennessee Titans, Adams forced a fumble on Derrick Henry which was recovered by teammate Vernon Hargreaves in the 27–23 loss. In week 15 against his former team, the Detroit Lions, Adams recorded his first interception of the season off rookie quarterback David Blough during the 38–17 win.
On March 24th, 2020, Adams was re-signed to a one-year, million contract. Adams played in all four games in the Buccaneers' playoff run that resulted in the team winning Super Bowl LV. On February 7th, 2021 Adams was integral part of the Bucs team that beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
In 2021, Adams played in 14 games with the Bucs including 3 starts. He added 16 tackles, an interceptionand 4 passes defensed. In the Playoffs Win Vs the Eagles, he was involved in one of the stranger plays of the NFL Season when Bucs coach Bruce Arians slapped his helmet to get him away from pulling opponents out of a pile so he didn't get a penalty. Arians was fined ,000 for the incident. On July 26th, 2022, the New York Giants signed Adams.
On September 21st, 2022, Adams was signed by the Tennessee Titans off the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad. Adams returned an interception from quarterback Matt Ryan for his first career defensive touchdown in a 19-10 Week 7 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
