Antique Dime Double Engraved Love Token
You are bidding on an Antique Dime engraved on both sides into a Love Token.
Since there is so much engraving on both sides of the Dime, I can't tell what the date is or the type of Dime.  I would estimate that the Dime is from the Late 1800's - Early 1900's as this is the period when it was very popular to engrave U. S. coins into tokens of affection.
In fact, prior to engagement rings, when a man wanted a woman to marry him he would carve her initials onto a coin, but would carve his surname initial on it instead of the initial of her maiden name.  If she accepted and wore it, then they were engaged.  Soldiers also gave love tokens to loved ones left at home as a remembrance.  All types of coins were used as love tokens, but dimes were the most popular as they made the most easily wearable jewelry.  According to some reports, this fad actually created a shortage of dimes as so many were being engraved!
The initials on the obverse side are raised and appear to be a different metal...copper, maybe?  The "B" initial is engraved to look like a piece of wood.  The other entwined initial looks like it is either a "T" or an "I" with the crossbar worked in the shape of a horseshoe.
The reverse side features a house beside a lake or ocean with a sailboat and flying birds in the distance.
The workmanship on this Love Token is really beautiful and it is well made.  It even has a bale at the top, which appears to be soldered on, and a jump ring.
This beautiful Antique Love Token made from a Dime will be a fine addition to any collection of Love Tokens or vintage and antique jewelry.
