The Bhutan 1 Ngultrum is part of the family of banknotes issued in 2006 with a pick number P-27. This particular paper bill is in uncirculated condition and is authenticated. Designed by Giesecke & Devrient, the obverse of the banknote dragons and a Khorlo or the Wheel of Dharma which is one of the eight symbols of good luck. On its reverse side is the Simtokha Dzong which is a former Buddhist monastery. The Bhutan 1 Ngultrum is made of a hybrid composite substrate. The banknote is 120 x 60 mm in size with no watermark and no security thread. Ngultrum, pronounced as "Engultrum"means "silver" in Dzongkha, a Tibetan language.
