Chris Gronkowski is a former NFL fullback, most recently playing for the San Diego Chargers of the National Football League. He was signed by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He has also been a member of the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos. He played college football at Arizona.
Gronkowski was recruited to Maryland as a fullback in 2005, but redshirted his freshman year. His redshirt freshman season in 2006, he worked his way up into the fullback rotation. He had the eighth highest strength index on the team which was the best among running backs. In his redshirt sophomore season in 2007, he transferred to Arizona where he played linebacker. He went back to the starting fullback position in 2008 as a fourth year junior as he recorded 8 receptions for 198 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was also the Second Team All-Pac-10 Academic Football Team. In 2009, as a fifth year senior, he recorded 4 catches for 20 yards.
Gronkowski played for the Arizona Wildcats where he was a nifty multi-dimensional threat in the backfield in 2009. A backfield blocking specialist at H-Back or motion back, Gronkowski quickly earned playing time and started seven games as the top at his position in 2008 and earned Second-team All-Pac-10 Academic Football Team. He finished with eight receptions, but they went for 198 yards to lead the team at 24.8 yards per grab, most coming at critical times and earning first downs. Gronkowski had two key receptions in the 2008 Las Vegas Bowl including a 24-yard touchdown catch from Willie Tuitama and an earlier grab for a first down on same drive. The Wildcats earned a victory over the heavily favored BYU Cougars 31-21 in front of 40,047 fans at Sam Boyd Stadium in Nevada. Gronkowski had one of his best games against Oregon when he had 3 receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown.
One day after the NFL draft, on April 25, 2010, Gronkowski signed with the Dallas Cowboys. On September 4, 2010, Gronkowski made it past the final cuts to join the 53 man roster. He made his first career start on September 19, 2010 against the Chicago Bears. Also, his first career touchdown catch came in the same game on a one-yard pass from Tony Romo. He finished his rookie season starting 7 out of 14 games and finished the season with 17 rushing yards on 5 carries and 7 catches for 35 yards and a touchdown.
The featured white and black Nike Vapor Jet Gloves were game worn by Chris Gronkowski in his 1st Game with the Indianapolis Colts when they faced the Houston Texans on September 11th, 2011. The Texans won 34-7 behind Matt Schaub who threw for 220 yards and a touchdown and running back Ben Tate who rushed for 116 yards and another score in relief of injured Pro Bowler Arian Foster. Gronkowski has signed the gloves and added “1st Game as a Colt” to the left glove and “2011 Game Worn Against Texans” to the right one.
As could be viewed from the images, the right glove has some blue ink around the signature.
