XXConklin #76 BCHR Fountain Pen, No Nib, c1920s, Some Issues
This is a #76 black chased Conklin fountain pen.
This is big pen and measures 5 11/16 inches closed. Pen dates to the 1920s.
This is a #7 size pen. Conklin made this model in the following sizes: #26, #46, #56 and #76. The leading number is the nib size. Thus for this pen (#76) the proper nib is a #7. Same convention applied to their crescent filling pens - the leading number denoted the nib size (#20, #30, #40, #50, and #75). This pen is the same size as a crescent filling Conklin #75.
Pen has a short crack at the lever cut-out (see pic). Pen also some bulging in the cap just above the clip hole - perhaps removing the inner cap could improve or resolve this - this area is not cracked. There is a dent to the cap band (see pic #7) and the chasing at the back of the cap is worn smooth is areas. Lever arm is solid and functions just as it should.
There is no nib.
Pen has a fresh sac and fills great.
