This player powers on, but for now all that I can get from the radio is AM. The FM for some reason I can’t pull in a station, but I’m in a basement with concrete walls. You can hear slight static noise on FM, but no stations. Also the 8 track player motor goes on when a tape is put in, and the channels change when you push the button, but I can’t get any music out of the tape section. It seems like the tape doesn’t even move, just the motor hums but I don’t think the tape is actually spinning. The connection cord between the two halves is pretty lengthy and would spread the two apart a good distance.
And just a mention that the battery compartment is pretty dirty, but could probably be cleaned up with vinegar or something that’s actually for cleaning battery compartments. No. X
This player splits in half to space out the speakers for wide stereo sound.
All the knobs and switches work smoothly, and it’s missing the battery compartment cover. Also a corner piece of plastic by the hinge is broken off. Also the outside plastic shell is a little ’age appropriate’ and slightly discolored. Still acceptable, but you can make it cleaner.
A nice little player once you address those issues. And another piece of the evolution of stereo, in your possession.
Please check out the pictures closely, I’ll try to capture the good, and the bad to see.
