This 5 3/8” capped CONKLIN Self-Filling fountain pen with Crescent Filler is very early 20th
Century - the pen features a crisp and detailed imprint featuring Pat Dates of 1891, 1901 and 1903 - the pen does have several issues. . The large and rather thick Black Hard Rubber pen with rounded cap and chevron chasing is handsome, there are no chips or cracks, no personalizations and NO TONING or DISCOLORATION - the barrel end shoes a few digs or bites. The clip is missing from the pen. The 4 line imprint is perfect and the barrel end is marked with the Conklin logo, TRADE MARK and 4NL.The 14K gold Conklin No 4 FLEXIBLE nib is a Medium with lots of iridium – AND the tines are separated a bit as shown in the pictures. The Gold Filled Crescent is down in the slot – it comes out but won’t stay out. A very good, early and substantial Conklin with rich, even color.
