    Description

Original U.S. Half Sheet Poster (22x28) Very Good Plus Condition
Original Fox Film Corporation Half-Sheet Poster for the J. Gordon Edwards directed film THE SOUL OF BUDDHA (1918). The film featured the early 20th Century megastar Theda Bara. Bara usually played a vamp or femme fatale in her films and THE SOUL OF BUDDHA was no exception. The Internet Movie Database has provided an excellent synopsis of the film. "Bavahari, a half caste Indian girl, renounces her oath as a sacred dancer to the worship of Buddha. The High Priest, who secretly loves the girl, is enraged and vows vengeance. Bavahari marries an English army officer, and they move to Paris where she becomes a sensation as a dancer. After she deserts her husband, he kills himself at her feet. The High Priest, discovering that Bavahari is in Paris, announces his presence by marking the "Sign of Death" on her dressing room door. He then disguises himself as a Buddha idol. As Bavahari dances on stage, the High Priest kills her in front of the audience" Bara was already world-famous for films such as CLEOPATRA (1917) and she would extend her prowess as a vamp in SALOME in 1918, the year this film was also released. MovieArt Austin guarantees that this poster is a vintage, authentic Fox poster for this film. Needless to say, the poster is very rare. MovieArt Original Film Posters in Austin, Texas does not sell reproductions.
