    Description

    Up for auction is a vintage 1956 signed folk art hand carved bird on faux painted birchbark (pine) branch recently found at auction in Lancaster County PA.  Looks like a US grossbeak, approx 4", unknown what kind of bird in Germany.  Condition issues include breaks to tail, losses to branch, scratches and abrasions.  Remnants of glue stain on branch where bird is attached.  Pencil marks on back seem German "fra onkel" with name might be Doris or Astis Irene then Strarven maybe?  1956.  Nice original hanger.  Appears to be similar in quality to German bird trees also found in Lancaster County area.  Overall approx 10.75" long by 2" wide.  Fragile, will wrap with care.  Sweet bird.
